Vaccines Mandatory in California?

When Dr. Richard Pan’s bill, AB 2019, was debated in a public hearing before California’s Senate Committee on Health, Dawn Richardson, Director of Advocacy for the National Vaccination Information Center (NVIC), showed up to explain why she and her organization opposed the bill. If the bill is enacted into law, Richardson says, it will in effect forced mandatory vaccinations onto children even when their parents have decided it’s in their best interest to deny them. Under current law, parents may file a “personal belief exemption” which allows their children to attend public school without vaccinations. But under Pan’s bill, a doctor must sign off on the parents’ decision first, and most of them won’t.

The idea is that the government has a vested interest in making sure that the parents are making the right decision, have full and complete information before making that decision, and consequently mandates that parents have that “medical conversation” before filing the exemption. The only problem is that it’s difficult to find a doctor that is willing to have that conversation and then sign off on the parents’ request. A young couple who remained anonymous in their report to NVIC had an incident not uncommon in the medical profession:

Our new daughter was born on December 13th, so we had briefly met Dr. Leong at the hospital for our daughter’s initial checkup…There seemed to be no problem at the time with Dr. Leong, but we did not have any discussion about immunizations at that time.

Upon arriving at the Sutter Pediatrics office on Dec. 19th, 2011 for her first doctor’s appointment my husband and I received shocking news. Once Dr. Leong came into the room and my husband informed her that we would be choosing to not immunize our daughter her demeanor completely changed. She instantly became rude and condescending. Her first words were “Well, that is going to be a problem.” She spoke to us as if we were stupid, telling us we seemed like “nice kids”, but that she would not treat our daughter unless we immunized [our daughter with] a long list of immunizations that she wanted us to.

There were only a couple that she was okay with us not getting. She said “since you’re here I will look at her today, but unless you choose to immunize [her] then you’re going to have to find another doctor.”.. read more here…

Key points regarding swine flu, (Updated   Wednesday ,  June 18th,   2009)

-The swine flu A (H1N1)  is a viral infection that originated  from pigs and was   first  isolated from pigs in the 1930s.

-From 2005 up to 2009, 10 cases of swine flu were reported in the USA according to the CDC.

-As of June 18th- According to the CDC,  17,855   cases of swine flu  were  confirmed as of June 18th, 2009,  including 44 deaths.  New York has the most deaths, with 13.

-As of June 18th, the WHO (World Health Organization) states 70 countries have   confirmed  cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection.

The World Health Organization elevated  the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 5,  on April 29, 2009.   Phase 5  is called when there   is a “strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short.”

Phase 6 is the highest level.  On June 11th, the WHO raised the level to Phase  6, indicating that the flu has spread worldwide.

-Antibiotics do not  help this infection since it is not  from a bacteria. The only medicines which help are antivirals-

-The flu usually strikes during the Winter months and early spring. An epidemic this late is unusual.  However, there have been reports of swine flu occurring during summer camps during the summer of 2009.

Swine Flu Deaths

By May 2nd, 2009m  the WHO stated   there was another 159 probable swine flu deaths, and 1,300 people were hospitalized.   The earliest case of swine flu  was traced to patient zero-  a 5 year old boy in La Gloria, Mexico.  The  US  Company,  Smithfield Farms,  owns pig farm in town, but none of the pigs have tested positive.  Smithfield Farms denied that any of their pigs were infected in a WSJ article in May.

Swine Flu Symptoms

The swine flu symptoms reported  when  infected  with the swine flu are similar to the symptoms of the  influenza virus  most are familiar with.   The good news is that most people who become  infected will do fine and will not have any long term complications.    Those who are immune compromised, older  or pregnant may be at higher risk of complications or serious respiratory illness.  The most common swine flu symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Congestion
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Body aches
  • Joint Pains
  • Fevers
  • Sore throat
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased energy
  • Rarely death in more severe cases, especially from pneumonia.

Transmission

The viral  infection is transmitted  to humans  who are in contact with swine, although there are several cases of swine flu in people who had no known exposure to either infected people or pigs.   Once the species barrier is crossed,  human to human  transmission can occur  with casual contact or airborne transmission, like  when one sneezes or coughs.   Eating pork products will not cause one to develop the swine flu.  Basically, this flu is passed from one person to another like any cold of flu infection.

Prevention of Swine Flu

Washing hands routinely with soap and warm water,  and wearing a N99 mask/respirator, such as the Wein ViraMask may  also be helpful if you must be in public places.  The Wein mask/respirator  is strapless and adheres tightly to all faces. When used appropriately, it does not leak.    N99 masks provide 100 x more protection than a N95 mask, which are sill a decent option.  3M is also a manufacturer of such masks.  If  you are planning on traveling by air or train, having a mask available would be a good idea in case it is needed.   Also, avoid contact with sick people whenever possible. If you are sick, stay home.

Use alcohol based hand sanitizers to minimize infection risk.  Some also use the Wein Air Supply Personal Air Purifier to help reduce exposure to airborne germs.  Further, we know that eating healthy food, getting plenty of sleep and keeping your immune system strong can help prevent infections.  Vitamin D supplementation may also be of benefit when taken in adequate doses.

Diagnosis of Swine Flu

Remember- most with flu symptoms simply have a viral infection and NOT the swine flu.   Maintaining adequate hydration is very  important  if you contract any viral illness.  The swine flu is diagnosed  when a   physician suspects infection, and sends a nasopharyngeal  swab ( a  Q-tip of  shorts placed about 2 inches in your nose towards your throat)  in a special viral collection container to a  special lab to be tested.

Treatment of Swine Flu

If you contract the swine flu, there are 2 flu medications which can be helpful.  The  CDC recommends the use of oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or zanamivir (Relenza)  for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses.  These medications can also be used for the usual avian influenza. Symptomatic care is most important.  Antibiotics will not help.  Ask your doctor about your options.  Those at high risk should  strongly be considered for treatment with medications.  High risk patients include those with diabetes, heart disease, immune compromised, seniors over age 65.

Swine Flu Vaccine

On June 12, a new vaccine was apparently produced by Novartis Pharmaceuticals.  If you did receive a flu vaccine this year, it will not offer you protection against the swine flu.  Baxter Pharmaceuticals however issued a press release saying they are working on a vaccine also.   Whether these will prove to be effective is unknown. In 1976, the swine flu vaccine actually killed more people that it helped (learn more).

Other

A study by Dr. Cannell from California also showed that vitamin D can help prevent traditional influenza infections by strengthening the immune system.   A daily intake of 2,000 IU daily should be taken at minimum, by most.  A  dose of up to 10,000 IU of vitamin D  daily for a few days may also be helpful. Talk to your  doctor about this.  However, there are no studies specifically which show  swine flu is prevented by  vitamin D.  Read more about vitamin D’s potential  and the swine flu. or visit the vitaminDcouncil.org

Talk to your physician if you have concerns or other questions regarding swine flu.

Sterilization Vaccines Mandatory?

Massive Brazilian Vaccination Raises Suspicions of Covert Sterilization Program

By Matthew Cullinan Hoffman

August 14, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The commencement of a massive, mandatory vaccination program in Brazil has raised suspicions among international pro-life activists, who note that the program is similar to others in recent years that have included a hidden sterilizing agent in the vaccines.

The campaign, which was begun last week by Brazil’s pro-abortion Health Minister, Jose Gomes Temporao, claims that its goal is to annihilate rubella in the South American nation.

Temporao, who has expended considerable energy to legalize abortion, claims he is concerned about the fact that 17 Brazilian children each year suffer birth defects from the disease, in a nation of more than 180 million people.  Rubella is normally little more than a nuisance for those who contract it, with symptoms that pass in a matter of days or weeks.

Although the number of children affected by Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) is less per capita than that of both the United Kingdom and Australia in the 1990s, Temporao is heading a mandatory program to vaccinate 70 million Brazilians, which would make it the largest vaccination in history. ….read more here..

Another Girl Stricken Following Gardasil Injection

Talk to your doctor to see if gardasil is right for you or your daughter….

—–

Gardasil was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) two years ago for girls aged nine-26 and protects against sexually transmitted diseases caused by four particularly dangerous strains of HPV (Human Papillomavirus) in women that are responsible for 70 percent of cervical cancers and 90 percent of genital warts.  Three shots are given over six-months.  Merck & Company—Gardasil’s maker—said 16 million doses have been administered since its approval.

Now, one Northern California family is wondering if Gardisal injections have nearly paralyzed a healthy 13-year-old girl.  Jenny’s story was recently highlighted on CBS News and focused on how Jenny was seemingly healthy 15 months prior to receiving her third shot of Gardasil.  Following the third Gardasil injection, Jenny began showing signs of having been stricken with a degenerative muscle disease. The family says Jenny is now almost completely paralyzed and believes “there may be a link” between the paralysis and the Gardasil injection and has opened a blog in the hopes of determining if Jenny’s paralysis and Gardasil are, indeed, linked and is urging other girls with similar “post-vaccination” responses to speak out at: http://www.jenjensfamily.blogspot.com/

Merck’s response?  “Based on the facts that we’ve received, the information does not suggest that this event was causally associated with vaccination.”  Also, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends 11- and 12-year-old girls receive Gardasil as part of school vaccination efforts…..read more here.

Court Hears More Claims of Vaccine-Autism Link

Court Hears More Claims of Vaccine-Autism Link

WASHINGTON — The United States Court of Federal Claims began another hearing on Monday to decide whether a vaccine additive led thousands of children to become autistic.

The hearing is the second in a series of three in which the court is considering whether the government should pay millions of dollars to the parents of some 4,800 autistic children. In this hearing, parents are claiming that thimerosal, a preservative that contains mercury, damaged their children’s brains. Thimerosal was removed from all routinely administered childhood vaccines by 2001.

Every major study and scientific organization to examine the issue has found no link between vaccination and autism, but the parents and their advocates have persisted.

The claims are being heard in a special court set up by Congress 20 years ago when a series of scares nearly crippled the vaccine industry. The hearing is expected to last two to three weeks, and a decision is not expected until next year.

Almost absent from this hearing and the others in the series is any discussion of the case of Hannah Poling, an autistic 9-year-old from Athens, Ga., who the government conceded last year might have been injured by vaccines. Vaccine critics say the concession gives strong evidence that vaccines cause autism, but government officials say the case proves nothing regarding the safety of vaccines.

The experiences of two 10-year-old boys from Portland, Ore., are at the center of the latest hearing. The boys, William Mead and Jordan King, were developing normally until they were vaccinated, said Thomas Powers, a lawyer representing them.

But a buildup of mercury in their brains from vaccines containing thimerosal led the boys to regress, Mr. Powers contended.

The claims for the two boys are test cases being heard to determine whether parents in thousands of similar cases should receive compensation. Last summer, Mr. Powers presented before the special court the test case of Michelle Cedillo, who Mr. Powers claimed was injured by both vaccines containing thimerosal and the vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella, which did not contain thimerosal.

Next summer, the court will hear a test case in which lawyers will argue that the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine was the sole cause of autism.

Plaintiffs and their lawyers have sought for years to delay hearings on their vaccine claims, hoping new research or government data would bolster their arguments. But with each passing year, the claim that thimerosal had an important effect on children has become harder to sustain. Its removal has appeared to have no effect on autism rates.
