Miami Cannibal identified…

The naked man who viciously attacked another man — at one point trying to eat off the other man’s face — before he was shot dead by police was identified Monday.

Police sources said Monday the attacker was 31-year-old Rudy Eugene. His name was first reported by WPLG ABC 10.

The name of the man Eugene seriously hurt remained a mystery. On Monday, the man was still at Jackson Memorial Hospital, in critical condition.

“We’re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,” said Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami police union. “Only he knows.”

Police seek witnesses to Miami Cannibal crime

            An unidentified man savagely attacked by another on the pedestrian walkway of the MacArthur Causeway remained in intensive care on Sunday at Ryder Trauma Center in Miami.

The man, whose name has not been released, was said to have suffered severe facial injuries from an attacker who witnesses said chewed at the victim’s face and eyes in the walkway on the west end of the causeway. Both men were naked.

When police arrived, the attacker refused to stop biting the other man and was shot dead by a Miami police officer.

Miami police on Sunday said the investigation was ongoing and no new details would be released.

They asked that any witnesses to the brutal attack come forward to help piece together what had occurred at what became a gruesome crime scene

It was a scene as creepy as a Hannibal Lecter movie.

One man was shot to death by Miami police, and another man is fighting for his life after he was attacked, and his face allegedly half eaten, by a naked man on the MacArthur Causeway off ramp Saturday, police said.

The horror began about 2 p.m. when a series of gunshots were heard on the ramp, which is along NE 13th Street, just south of The Miami Herald building.

According to police sources, a road ranger saw a naked man chewing on another man’s face and shouted on his loud speaker for him to back away.Meanwhile, a woman also saw the incident and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.  Police are searching for witnesses of this brutal crime.

Other cultures around the world have also eaten people throughout the course of  human history.    First, the Neanderthals are believed to have practiced cannibalism, in addition to  people from Fiji (South Pacific), the Amazon and  New Zealand.  Read more here on Wikipedia.
