The heavily marketed energy drinks are all similar. Monster, Full Throttle and various other brands may have similar effects. In addition, I have had a few patients develop irregular heart rates after drinking energy drinks. Both went to the ER for atrial fibrillation and they were instructed to stop drinking the energy drinks. They had no further episodes of the irregular heart rate…. (Warning Labels on Red Bull?)

CANBERRA (Reuters) – Just one can of the popular stimulant energy drink Red Bull can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, even in young people, Australian medical researchers said on Friday.
The caffeine-loaded beverage, popular with university students and adrenaline sport fans to give them “wings”, caused the blood to become sticky, a pre-cursor to cardiovascular problems such as stroke.
“One hour after they drank Red Bull, (their blood systems) were no longer normal. They were abnormal like we would expect in a patient with cardiovascular disease,” Scott Willoughby, lead researcher from the Cardiovascular Research Centre at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, told the Australian newspaper.
Red Bull Australia spokeswoman Linda Rychter said the report would be assessed by the company’s head office in Austria.
“The study does not show effects which would go beyond that of drinking a cup of coffee. Therefore, the reported results were to be expected and lie within the normal physiological range,” Rychter told Reuters.
Willoughby and his team tested the cardiovascular systems of 30 young adults one hour before and one hour after consuming one 250ml can of sugar-free Red Bull..….read rest of story..

Thanks for posting this. My husband is in the Army and does Physical Training every morning 5 times a week. He drinks this NOW. He was drinking Full Throttle before PT but one morning he completely passed out. He was brought to the ER. Now he thinks Red Bull is better (safer) so he drinks it instead. My husband has high blood pressure by heredity. I am SCARED.

I agree that these drinks are dangerous and the fact is that many people I know drink several a day. I live in an active town and have several friends that are mountaineers and rock climbers. They drink these instead of eating to maintain stamina and low weight. I think it is like playing with fire and am sending them this information.

my 16 year old son has a heart problem from drink RED BULL.. I have the EKG’s and test to prove it.

i would advise anyone with high blood pressure to stop drinking red bull,i will never touch it again,3 weeks ago on a friday tea time i had a vodka and red bull (not had a red bull in years) well the next morning at around 10.30 am i had a mini stroke or tia,i am sure it was down to having that red bull,anyway it frightened the life out of me i am nearly recovered its been 3week now and ive not touched a drop of alcohol or coke,and have changed what i eat,apparantly after 1hour of drinking a red bull it turns your blood sticky,but before i had this red bull i wud guzzle down vodka and cokes all weekend and wonder why i had palpatations which have all gone now thankgod as i only drink water now,so please if you are unfit overweight (which i am but ive dropped a dress size in 3weeks)+have high colestorol and bp avoid red bull and any energy drinks in my opiniion,p.s sweetiegirlz i would advise you to show this to your husband to stop drinking red bull esp with his high blood pressure, just wanted to share my awful life changing esperience,thanks michelle…….x
