With all the negative press regarding artificial sweeteners, perhaps we should be focusing our attention back on good old sugar. That is the type that comes from the canes of plantations instead of the conveyor belts of chemical labs. I personally stay clear of artificial sweeteners and use only cane sugar or stevia. It now appears I will be running my car on this stuff soon.
If you have ever eaten regular sugar, chances are you have had sugar from Brazil. Brazil actually exports 20% of the world sugar and more and more companies and manufacturers in the US are learning the benefits of sugar from Brazil are are using Brazilian sugar for their products.
In recent years, Brazil has made international headlines due to the fact that they are now the leading producer of ethanol, a sugar can alcohol that comes from their numerous sugar cane fields. This ethanol can be used to power automobiles. We can only hope that the US will follow this trend and that in years to come, we will be relying on sugar in stead of oil.
In Brazil, sugar can is also a popular treat among the children. In any community where sugar cane fields are located, you can find children eating sugar canes like children in the US eat Popsicle sticks.
